Check snow chance
How to read the result
Snow band
We bucket the chance into Rare (one or two events all month), Occasional (six to eight snow days with sticking snow), Likely (snow two to three times a week, often lingering). Bands are based on station records from 2015–2024.
Road closure risk
Fanjing's winding approach road closes to private cars when ice is reported — bus from Tongren keeps running. Jiucaiping's upper road closes more often, sometimes for two to three days. Plan a rest day around the closure possibility.
Photo tips
Snow photography in Guizhou's karst is about the contrast: dark forest against white granite. The best light is the morning after a snowfall ends — 7:30 to 9:30 — before any wind disturbs the trees.
What this tool can't tell you
- Whether it will snow on the exact day you go. Check the 24-hour forecast from 贵州省气象台 (Guizhou Provincial Meteorological Office) the night before.
- The actual road condition. Mountain passes can be open one morning, closed by lunch. Drivers and bus stations are the most current source.
- Your cold tolerance. Even "Likely" snow band days are below -5 °C on the summit — wind chill matters more than the thermometer.
- Cable car availability in winter. Fanjing's cable car runs most winter days but can be wind-stopped above 50 km/h gusts.
- Where the snow line actually sits. Even in heavy snow, the snow line in Fanjing starts at about 1,800 m; the cable car lets you skip some of the climb, not the temperature drop.
